Malgosia
Fiebig, born in
1975 in
Danzig, Polen, studied at the Music Academy of Danzig and obtained
her
Master of Music in Organ Performance in 1999 and in Choral Conducting
in 2002.
In 1999 she took carillon lessons from Gert Oldenbeuving and was
appointed as the first
carillonneur of the Saint Catherine's Church in
Danzig 60 years after the old carillon had been confiscated by the
Germans and
sent to Hamburg. In 2001 she
was
given the
position of playing the new carillon in the tower of the Danzig City
Hall as
well. In 2004 she moved
to the Netherlands
to study at the Dutch Carillon School in Amersfoort. In the
following
year she earned a Bachelor in Carillon Performance from Arie Abbenes
and in
2007 a Masters in Carillon Performance from Frans Haagen and Henk
Verhoef. Ms. Fiebig has won
prizes at international carillon
competitions in Hamburg 2001, Enkhuizen 2002, Tiel 2006, and Zwolle
2007 and in
2008 at the Queen Fabiola Competition held in Mechelen, Belgium in 2008
and has
given many concerts in Europe and the US. In
2011 she was appointed city carillonneur of Utrecht and Nijmegen, the
Netherlands.
