Tom Van Peer

Tom Van Peer was born in 1975 in Herenthals, Belgium and received his carillon diploma in 1998 magna cum laude from the Royal Carillon School "Jef Denyn" in Mechelen. He is the city carillonneur of Lokeren and Puurs. In 1998 he won first prize at the Queen Fabiola Carillon Competition in Mechelen, Belgium and in 2001 he was awarded the TOPY Prize for young people who have achieved musical excellence. In 2003 the Royal Carillon School "Jef Denyn" gave him the prize for young composers. In 2018 he received a prize as a blind person who had achieved notable success in his career in spite of his handicap. Since 2003 he has been a member of the jury of the Queen Fabiola Carillon Competition and since 2012 he has taught composition and improvisation at the Royal Carillon School "Jef Denyn". He gives carillon concerts at home and abroad, is also a professional pianist and accordeon player and composes music for these three instruments.
