Tours of the Carillon Tower After the Concerts
Regular tours of the carillon
tower are offered at the end of the concerts. No advance
registration is necessary, just wait at the bottom of the tower
for the carillonneur and remember that coming down takes a bit of
time! Ascend the tower with him - there is no elevator, you must
climb about 130 steps for the first section and then later another
60 but the stairway is modern and easy to ascend and you will be
rewarded with a unique view of Berlin and its government
buildings! The carillonneur, Jeffrey Bossin, guides you through
the tower, answers your questions, explains the special features
of the instrument and recounts the interesting history of the
carillon in Berlin from its beginning under the first King of
Prussia to the reunification of Germany. He demonstrates the
instrument's fascinating playing technique and plays a virtuosic
work for carillon for you on the big keyboard! Price: adults 7
euros, children (under 12) 3 euros, tours require at least four
